Donald Kirkley died after a collision involving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze and a Husqvarna riding lawn mower on State Road 142 west of Wilbur in Morgan County. The crash site was in the 3400 block of the road, and the Morgan County Sheriff's Office handled the investigation, according to a Fox 59 report.
Kirkley was taken to Franciscan Hospital in Mooresville and later died from his injuries. Investigators believe the mower was traveling in the westbound lane when the Chevrolet hit it, Fox 59 reported. An autopsy was pending to determine the official cause of death.

The Chevrolet driver was not injured and has been cooperating with deputies. The driver agreed to a blood draw, which the Morgan County Sheriff's Office characterized as standard procedure after a serious or fatal crash, according to Fox 59.
