The French cafe chain Maman, famous nationwide for a cookie that landed on Oprah's Favorite Things list, is opening its first Tarrant County location inside Southlake's Park Village shopping center. The New York-founded bakery will occupy a 2,571-square-foot space at 1161 E. Southlake Blvd., with construction slated to begin in early October and an opening targeted for late January 2027.

A French Import Lands at Park Village

According to CultureMap Fort Worth, Maman now operates roughly 60 locations across the United States and Canada, and the Southlake cafe marks the brand's entry into Tarrant County specifically. Park Village confirmed the Southlake opening on September 12, according to the outlet's reporting. State permit records filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show the project was registered on August 17, with an estimated renovation cost of $400,000 for the space, and construction beginning October 7 and wrapping by January 29, 2027.

Those same state filings list Houston-based 5C SL Park Village LLC as the property owner and Fusion-AE as the design firm handling the finish-out. The $400,000 estimate exceeds the Tarrant County median of $250,000 for commercial tenant alteration and renovation projects.

Joining a Crowded Food Hub

Park Village itself spans roughly 185,000 square feet. Maman will enter the center alongside its existing tenants and restaurant lineup.

The newest addition to that lineup, Hudson House, opened at 1131 E. Southlake Blvd. in the former RA Sushi space next to Gloria's, per CultureMap Fort Worth's reporting. Together with Maman, the openings add to Park Village's dining lineup.

How Southlake Became a Launchpad

Maman is expanding into Tarrant County with a Southlake location.

Maman was founded in New York's SoHo neighborhood in 2014 by Elisa Marshall and Benjamin Sormonte, per CultureMap Fort Worth. The chain made its Texas debut at the Plaza at Preston Center in Dallas in November 2025 before expanding rapidly, opening a Lakewood location earlier in 2026 and a Plano cafe in August. That Plano location occupies a 3,102-square-foot space at 7200 Bishop Road in The Shops at Legacy — one of several Maman cafes now planned or open across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, as Hoodline previously reported in its coverage of the Plano debut.

What's on the Menu

Maman cafes serve coffee, breakfast, and lunch during daylight hours, with espresso drinks, tea, and pastries alongside croissants, kouign maman, Bundt cakes, tea cakes, and cookies, per CultureMap Fort Worth. Savory options include quiche, a breakfast bowl, a chicken Caesar wrap, and a Mediterranean steak sandwich, plus a creamy tomato soup with a three-cheese grilled cheese sandwich and a chicken salad club with spiced cranberry chutney.

The brand's Plano cafe has offered seasonal specialties including a Magnolia sweet tea fizz, a Lone Star cinnamon bun, and a salted caramel pecan pie roll, according to the same report. Maman also sells a vanilla honey butter latte topped with sweet corn foam and cornbread crumbs, a salted tahini honeycomb latte, a caramel cheesecake sugar bun filled with cream cheese mousseline, an oatmeal raisin sandwich cookie with cream cheese frosting, and an apple cider donut cake made with fall spices.

The chain's signature is its Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookie, which achieved national notoriety after landing on Oprah's Favorite Things list in 2017, according to Taste Canada. Co-founders Marshall and Sormonte later published the recipe in their 2021 cookbook, Maman: The Cookbook, All Day Recipes to Warm Your Heart, following high customer demand, per CultureMap Fort Worth. Maman has since expanded into a broader lifestyle brand selling culinary, design, and entertainment merchandise, and has collaborated with Martha Stewart's test kitchen on pastries.

Built for Takeout, Built to Expand

Roughly 75% of Maman's business model relies on to-go sales rather than full-service sit-down dining, co-founder Elisa Marshall told The Chalkboard Mag. That off-premise focus made the pandemic shift easier, while its cafes also double as venues for bridal showers, luncheons, and other celebrations, per CultureMap Fort Worth's reporting.

The interiors lean into a French provincial aesthetic, with vintage furnishings, wood accents, and blue toile details defining the brand's look across markets. Beyond Southlake, Maman has additional Dallas-area plans in motion, including a location at Casa Linda Center — a project Hoodline covered earlier this year in Maman's Casa Linda takeover — as well as a planned outpost at Fields West in Frisco. Whether construction on the Southlake space proceeds smoothly from its October start to the targeted late-January 2027 opening remains to be seen.
