According to FOX 32 Chicago, officers responded to a call of two people shot in the 1900 block of East 71st Place around 10:38 p.m. Saturday. The victims were standing outside when an unknown male gunman fired at them from a distance and then fled on foot, police said.
The 42-year-old man was shot in the left hip and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he later died, per the station's report. As of Sunday, authorities had not publicly identified him. The 15-year-old boy was shot in the right arm and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, the outlet noted. Police have not said whether the two victims were related or acquainted, and no further details on a motive have been disclosed.
