In a mass shooting outside a River North venue, four people were killed and at least 18 were wounded, according to WTTW, which reported that the site had previously housed Hush Lounge, the location of a November 2022 mass shooting that killed one person and injured three others.
Other episodes in the neighborhood have followed a similar pattern of late-night gunfire and fleeing suspects. NBC Chicago reported that five masked and hooded gunmen once opened fire in a busy stretch of River North, letting off dozens of rounds that killed a 30-year-old man and wounded a 65-year-old man who was shot in the foot; as of 6 p.m. that day, no one had been taken into custody, according to NBC Chicago. That shooting broke out around 3:20 a.m. in the 500 block of North State Street, police said at the time.
In a separate case, a 34-year-old man died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds and being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, while three other men were hospitalized in critical condition, according to CBS News Chicago. Police said four unidentified suspects approached the victims on foot as they were getting into a car, pulled out guns, opened fire and then fled in a vehicle; that shooting happened in the 400 block of North LaSalle Drive near Hubbard Street. WGN-TV separately reported on a River North shooting that killed one man and critically injured three others — a 36-year-old shot in the chest, a 43-year-old shot in the back and a 35-year-old shot several times.
