A 32-year-old Knox County man is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond after prosecutors filed seven felony counts against him across two separate criminal cases alleging sexual abuse of a child. Jack Wayne Sears, of Wheatland, Indiana, was taken into custody on August 7 by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office following what investigators described as a multi-year investigation into child abuse allegations.

The second case, filed August 13, alleges an incident from January 2020 and charges him with Level 1 felony child molesting, Level 4 felony incest, and Level 4 felony sexual misconduct with a minor.
Bond was set separately for each case — $25,000 in the first and $75,000 in the second — for a combined total of $100,000 cash-only, according to the same outlet’s reporting. Sears was booked into the Knox County Jail in August, where he remains held.
Prosecutors Allege Jailhouse Contact Attempt
On August 15, Knox Superior Court 1 granted a prosecutor’s motion barring Sears from contacting his wife, whom prosecutors identified as the mother of the alleged victim. The motion followed allegations that Sears used the jail’s electronic messaging system to reach her in what prosecutors say was an attempt to influence the victim, the report notes.
