San Jose is waking up to clear skies and a cool start Sunday, with temperatures near 50 degrees before a sunny afternoon reaches about 66 degrees. The South Bay stays dry, but the calm-looking forecast comes with a noticeable late-week twist: warmer weather is expected.
The cooler pattern is the latest turn in a fast-moving stretch of Bay Area weather. Hoodline forecasts mostly sunny conditions Sunday and mostly sunshine Monday, followed by a late-week warmup.
Comfortable Sunday Afternoon
Sunday afternoon should be comfortable for outdoor plans, with temperatures topping out around 66 degrees before easing later in the day. West winds will run from 2 to 9 mph, while rain chances remain at zero in San Jose.
Saturday night's low was forecast near 50 degrees.
Warmup Arrives By Midweek
Monday will remain mostly sunny with a high near 68, followed by a late-week warmup.
The warmer stretch follows a sharp cooldown from the heat that dominated the South Bay earlier this month. Hoodline reported Saturday that the weekend would bring cooler air before a late-week warmup.
Sunny Inland Forecast, Rough Coast
San Jose's dry weather does not mean coastal conditions are friendly. The National Weather Service has warned of beach hazards, strong rip currents, sneaker waves and coastal flooding along parts of the coast through the coming days, with breaking waves reaching 13 to 16 feet in some areas.
Anyone heading west for a beach day should stay off jetties, rocks and exposed shoreline infrastructure, and remain out of the water while those hazards are in place. Inland residents can expect sunshine, but coastal plans may require considerably more caution than the blue skies suggest.
