San Jose started Friday under clear skies around 61 degrees, and Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 70 degrees. After earlier-week heat, the South Bay is trading the oven mitts for light jackets — at least for a few days.

The latest forecast sharpens the timing of the cooldown and adds wind concerns. A previous Hoodline forecast had already flagged the weekend change.

Sunny Weekend, Breezy Sunday Afternoon

Saturday night will be mostly clear with a low around 50 degrees, followed by another mostly sunny day Sunday with a high near 66. Winds will make for a breezy Sunday afternoon, and gusty winds are expected over land during the weekend.

Monday brings mostly sunshine and a high near 68. Rain is unlikely in San Jose, with only a slight chance of precipitation in the broader region early next week.

Fog Returns Before Temperatures Climb

Patchy fog is expected after 2 a.m. Tuesday, with areas of fog lingering before 9 a.m. After that murky start, skies should turn mostly sunny Tuesday and Wednesday.

The warmup continues late next week, with Thursday expected to be very warm and temperatures trending upward later in the week.

Coastal Plans Need Extra Caution

San Jose may be sunny, but the Pacific Coast will be a different story. The National Weather Service warns of hazardous beach conditions through Monday afternoon, including sneaker waves, strong rip currents and breaking waves that could reach 16 feet Sunday.

Large tidal swings may also push water farther up beaches and contribute to erosion near high tide. Stay out of the water, keep away from rocks, piers and jetties, and never turn your back on the ocean while these conditions persist.
