Rain showers are forecast before 10 a.m., followed by periods of showers and thunderstorms, gusty winds and a high near 73 degrees.
The heaviest weather is expected from late morning into the afternoon, with rainfall totals around three-quarters of an inch to 1 inch in Nashville and potentially 1 to 2 inches across parts of Middle Tennessee. A Flood Watch remains in effect through 7 a.m. Sunday, including Davidson County, as excessive runoff could flood creeks, streams, low-lying areas and low-water crossings, according to the National Weather Service.
Afternoon Winds Add Another Hazard
An accompanying Wind Advisory runs through 8 p.m. Saturday. East-northeast winds will run 10 to 15 mph in Nashville, with gusts up to 35 mph possible and stronger gusts elsewhere across Middle Tennessee.
Those winds could push around unsecured outdoor items, snap tree limbs and make driving more difficult for high-profile vehicles. Residents should secure patio furniture and trash cans, while drivers should use extra caution on exposed roads and avoid any route covered by fast-rising water.
Showers Linger Into Sunday
Saturday night carries a high chance of rain, with gusty winds expected over the weekend. Sunday brings a chance of showers before 1 p.m., a high near 75 and gradually improving conditions as the storm system pulls away.
The Flood Watch lasts into Sunday morning, so flooding concerns may continue even after the most intense thunderstorms move out. Never drive through a flooded roadway; water can conceal washed-out pavement and moving water can carry a vehicle away.
Summerlike Heat Returns Monday
The forecast takes a dramatic turn after the wet weekend. Sunday night should be partly cloudy with a low near 59, followed by sunny skies and a high near 86 Monday, then another sunny day near 89 Tuesday.
The weekend setup is a substantive update to the warm-weather outlook covered by Hoodline on Friday, with Nashville now moving into the active rain and wind phase of the forecast.
