Granville's Bryn Du Mansion is pairing its Halloween lantern tour with an exhibition of sculptures by Ohio artist Thomas “Tom” Kuebler on Saturday. Though the event may be spooky, it is not a haunted house experience. The historic estate's first floor will be open to the public free of charge during daytime hours before the mansion shifts into its after-dark programming Saturday night.
The Bryn Du Mansion Commission will present the exhibition featuring Kuebler's work at the historic mansion on Saturday, in conjunction with what organizers are calling Bryn Du After Dark: A Halloween Lantern Tour, according to bryndu.com. The event gives visitors a chance to see Kuebler's sculptures inside the mansion's historic setting, per the same listing.
Kuebler is a multimedia sculptor known for his distinctive silicone character sculptures, the mansion's event page notes. His pieces have exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Toledo Museum of Art, and they were featured prominently in the traveling exhibition Guillermo del Toro: At Home With Monsters, according to ixgallery.com. That del Toro exhibition toured LACMA and the Minneapolis Institute of Art, with its Minneapolis run in 2017, before moving to the Art Gallery of Ontario, where it ran through January 2018, per the gallery's artist page.
Daytime Viewing Is Free, Nighttime Tours Require Tickets
Bryn Du Mansion will open its first floor for free public viewing during designated daytime hours, according to bryndu.com. As reported by Columbus Underground, that daytime viewing runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with no admission charge either day.
The after-dark portion of the event is a separate ticketed experience. Nighttime lantern tours are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, cost $20 and are restricted to guests ages 16 and older, the outlet's event listing states. Advance tickets are required, and each tour lasts 30 minutes with only 10 to 15 people allowed per group, according to the mansion's own event page.
An Artist With a String of Regional and National Honors
Kuebler's appearance at Bryn Du is not his first local connection. He won Best of Show at the Bryn Du Art Show in March 2025 for his sculpture Sisters, and he took the Community Choice Award at the same show in March 2023 for his 9-foot-tall sculpture Goliath Greeley, according to his own event history posted at thomaskuebler.com.
His peers have also recognized him beyond Granville. Kuebler was awarded Best of Show at Mask Fest in August 2023, an honor he also received in 2019, per thomaskuebler.com. He was inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame at Olmsted Falls High School in October 2023, and in 2014 he served as a guest artist juror for Dragon Con's art show in Atlanta, according to ixgallery.com.
Bryn Du Mansion sits at 537 Jones Road NE in Granville, Ohio, per bryndu.com. The Bryn Du Commission, which manages and operates the estate, describes itself as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, according to the organization's own event listing.
