Indianapolis is starting Friday with clear skies and temperatures in the upper 40s, but the day is headed for a much warmer finish. Sunshine will push the temperature to near 70 degrees by afternoon, with light winds and no rain expected.
The National Weather Service calls for a dry stretch across central Indiana, with no watches, warnings or advisories in effect. Friday's light easterly breeze will stay below 7 knots this afternoon, making for easy conditions around downtown, neighborhood errands and outdoor plans.
Sunny Weekend Brings More Warmth
Saturday should look much like Friday, with sunny skies, a high near 71 and an overnight low around 46. Sunday turns a touch warmer, reaching about 74 degrees under mostly sunny skies, while nighttime temperatures settle near 47.
Patchy fog could develop in low-lying areas late Friday night into the early morning hours through Sunday. Most of Indianapolis should still have a bright, comfortable afternoon, but early risers may find a few murky spots outside the city center.
Mostly Dry Through Next Week
Monday remains mostly sunny with a high near 73 before clouds gradually increase. Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to stay mild, with highs around 70 to 71 degrees and only a tiny chance of rain.
Thursday should be partly to mostly cloudy, with a high near 72, although forecasters say a wetter pattern may begin to take shape around Halloween weekend. For now, Indianapolis gets several more days of unusually gentle fall weather before that possible shift.
