A person was left in critical condition early Thursday after being shot on Indianapolis's west side, prompting an active investigation by police who are now asking the public for help identifying what happened. The victim was rushed to the hospital following the shooting, with their condition still serious as of the latest update.
According to Fox 59, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the shooting, which injured a person on Indy's west side. Officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 1100 block of Shadowview Way near West Washington Street and West Morris Street, the outlet reported, citing IMPD. Responding officers located a person suffering from a gunshot wound at that location before the victim was taken to a hospital.
Conflicting Details on Exact Location
Not every outlet agrees on precisely where the shooting unfolded. A search snippet from WTHR described the incident as occurring near the 1100 block of Shadowview Way East Drive, attributing the detail to IMPD and placing the response at around 2:40 a.m. Thursday — a location description that differs slightly from the one reported elsewhere, and one that remains unresolved.
No suspect description, arrest information, or motive has been released in connection with the shooting. The victim's identity has also not been made public. IMPD is requesting information from the public as the investigation continues, per the station's report.
How To Submit Tips
Anyone with information is asked to contact IMPD at 317-327-3475. Those who wish to remain anonymous can instead reach out to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477), the same report noted.
Thursday's shooting adds to a string of west side shootings that have drawn scrutiny this year. A search snippet from an Indianapolis homicide tracker maintained by The Indianapolis Star noted that police were dispatched in June to the 6100 block of Beachview Drive after another report of a person shot, with no details about a suspect or what led to that incident immediately released. Fox59/CBS4 said it would provide updates on Thursday's case as they become available.
