Indianapolis is starting Thursday under few clouds, and the city is headed for a sunny, unseasonably warm afternoon near 78 degrees. Southwest winds will run 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph, making it feel more like late summer than the end of October.
Warm Thursday, Quick Evening Shift
Most of Thursday should stay dry and bright. A cold front moves through in the late afternoon and evening, with possible showers mainly north of Indianapolis, followed by partly cloudy skies and a low around 51 overnight.
Winds will turn northwest behind the front, according to the NWS Indianapolis forecast. No watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted for the area.
Cooler Friday And Cloudier Halloween
Friday will still be pleasant, but cooler, with sunny skies and a high near 71. Saturday, Halloween, looks mostly cloudy with a high around 68 and only a slight chance of rain during the day, while a few showers could develop after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Rain Chances Build Into Next Week
Sunday brings a 40% chance of rain showers with a high near 69, followed by another chance of showers Monday and Tuesday. Rain becomes more likely Tuesday night and Wednesday, when the forecast calls for a 60% chance each day, although temperatures should remain mild with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
The wetter stretch is a more substantial update to Hoodline's earlier forecast, which focused on the sunny run leading into Halloween weekend. For now, Thursday offers the best window for outdoor plans before clouds and rain chances gradually take over.
