The Country Club at Mirasol opened an 18,000-square-foot indoor pickleball complex in Palm Beach Gardens on Wednesday, giving members seven regulation-size courts, a viewing area, a lounge and dedicated retail and stretching space under one climate-controlled roof. The new building complements six outdoor courts already at the club's Sports Complex, rounding out one of the more ambitious private racquet-sports buildouts in the area this year.

According to a release from PR Newswire, the facility provides a climate-controlled environment for members to enjoy the growing sport year-round. The release describes Mirasol as having opened one of the largest dedicated indoor pickleball complexes in a South Florida country club community, and notes that the indoor courts complement six outdoor courts at the club's family-friendly Sports Complex.

Mirasol Club & Association President Joe Nigro said the complex supports the community's desirability and protects and enhances residents' property values, the release states. General Manager Eduard Cristal said the amenity enhances the member experience and adds new ways to enjoy life at Mirasol. Director of Sports Jeremy Barker said indoor courts enable consistent year-round play in professional-level climate-controlled conditions and reduce programming interruptions.

Part of a Larger Master Plan

The pickleball building is the second major facility completed under Mirasol's Master Plan, following the January 2026 opening of the club's expanded main security gatehouse, per the release. The Master Plan is described as a multiphase initiative to enhance infrastructure, lifestyle amenities and member experience at the gated community of 1,170 homes located north of PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.

The next major opening under the plan is scheduled for fall 2026: a 41,000-square-foot building that will include an indoor-outdoor restaurant overlooking renovated practice facilities and the 18th holes of the Sunrise and Sunset golf courses, a reimagined golf shop with expanded retail and custom-fitting services, and a grab-and-go dining outlet along with additional amenities, according to the same release. The Country Club at Mirasol broke ground on that 41,000-square-foot multipurpose building on June 10, 2025, per an earlier PR Newswire release, which at the time described the planned indoor pickleball facility as making Mirasol one of the first private residential communities in South Florida to offer this premier amenity.

Mirasol's own racquet sports page, hosted at mirasolcc.com, describes the opened facility as a state-of-the-art, 18,000-square-foot indoor pickleball building, and notes that clinics, leagues and tournaments are planned. That page also states the club expanded its outdoor pickleball courts from four to six. Notably, Mirasol's official Master Plan page had earlier described the planned facility as 17,000 square feet, a figure that differs from the 18,000-square-foot size cited in the October opening announcement and the racquet sports page.

Riding a Nationwide Pickleball Surge

The timing tracks a broader participation boom. The Sports & Fitness Industry Association reported that 24.3 million Americans played pickleball in 2025, up from 4.2 million participants in 2020, with core players who play at least eight times a year growing from 1.4 million to 7.5 million over that same span, according to the organization's data. The SFIA also found that women now account for 42.9 percent of all pickleball players, up from 38.6 percent in 2020, and that teens and young adults ages 13 to 24 posted the highest participation rates of any age segment.

An earlier Palm Beach Post report framed Mirasol's planned indoor building as a direct response to that demand. South Florida's indoor pickleball scene is also expanding beyond Mirasol: the Diadem Pickleball Complex in Coconut Creek already operates a 25,000-square-foot facility with nine indoor courts, offering group lessons, competitive leagues, social mixers and daily open play, with seasonal leagues that draw more than 300 participants across multiple divisions and often sell out, according to the venue's website.

Further south, Boca Paddle by CityPickle is set to open in Boca Raton on November 18, a $20 million, 100,000-square-foot luxury racquet club with 16 climate-controlled indoor courts and a 1,000-seat stadium court, the Palm Beach Post reported. Together, the projects point to a wave of private investment chasing pickleball's growth across Palm Beach County.

A Club With Deep Golf Roots

The Country Club at Mirasol is a member-owned, private country club community that has previously hosted the PGA Honda Classic from 2003 through 2006, according to the release. The club has also been awarded Platinum Club of America and Distinguished Club status, and Mirasol is designated as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. With the pickleball complex now open and the next Master Plan building on track for fall 2026, the club's amenities roster keeps expanding alongside the sport's national rise.
