A 22-year-old woman on a motorcycle was critically injured Tuesday afternoon when she collided with another vehicle at the mouth of Ogden Canyon. She was wearing a helmet, and the driver of the other vehicle stayed put and is working with investigators.
The crash happened at 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Canyon Road and Valley Drive, KSL reports. The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and the investigation remains ongoing.
How the Collision Unfolded
According to KUTV, the woman was riding eastbound on Canyon Road when she collided with a vehicle turning from Valley Drive onto westbound Canyon Road. The Weber Metro CRASH Team is handling the investigation.
The other driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, per the same KUTV account. Which driver was at fault has not been determined, and no citations or findings from the CRASH Team have been released.
Ogden City police officers were dispatched to the intersection, Gephardt Daily reports. The department also expressed hope for the young woman's recovery and gratitude to first responders and medical staff.
A Grim Backdrop for Utah Riders
The crash lands against a sobering statewide record. KPCW reported that Utah recorded 44 motorcycle rider deaths in 2025, with half of them in single-vehicle crashes. That year's fatalities were projected to exceed the 2024 record of 53 motorcyclist deaths.
The same report found that motorcycle fatalities accounted for 32% of all roadway fatalities in Utah in 2025. Almost 40% of that year's rider deaths were speed-related, according to the report.
The woman's name, current condition, and prognosis beyond the critical condition reported Tuesday have not been released.
