Whitney Rose, star of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” has filed for divorce from her husband of nearly 17 years, Justin Rose, submitting legal paperwork in the Salt Lake Department of Utah's Third District Court along with a proposed parenting plan for their two children. The 40-year-old reality star and her 58-year-old husband married in November 2009, and court records show the couple had already been living separately for months before the filing became official.
According to Cleveland.com, Rose moved into the guest bedroom of the couple's home back in February, a quiet first step toward the split that would not become public for another eight months. The couple share two teenage children, 16-year-old daughter Bobbie and 13-year-old son Brooks; Justin also has three sons from a previous marriage. Once the separation was underway, the pair set up a rotating schedule between their primary residence and a separate apartment, a system meant to keep things stable for the kids.
In a September interview with Us Weekly, Rose discussed her business failure; in a recent RHOSLC confessional, she said the business disagreements between her and Justin eventually snowballed into arguing about everything, and that she ultimately concluded she needed space away from him.
A Difficult Year Behind the Headlines
Rose has also been candid about her own struggles in the lead-up to the split. She said she was “in pain” following a difficult 2025 and acknowledged using alcohol to cope with tension at home, according to the same Cleveland.com report. Those personal struggles unfolded alongside financial pressure: Rose suffered a six-figure loss tied to a failed 2024 business merger, closed the doors on the merged business, fought to get her brand back, and resigned as CEO. She has since also launched a venture called Sōl People.
Justin's career had its own rocky stretch. He was fired from a senior executive post as Chief Sales Officer at LifeVantage Corporation in March 2022. According to Newsweek, his boss cited concerns about Whitney being a public figure; Whitney believed the couple's provocative Love Is Art bedroom scene that aired on RHOSLC may have been the final straw. He was out of work for a full year, a stretch that reshaped the household dynamic, before direct-selling trade outlet Business For Home reported in March 2023 that he had been named president of multi-level marketing supplement company Awakend — a role he still holds.
Denials Along the Way
About 21 months before the filing, Rose was publicly shutting down divorce chatter altogether. During a January 2025 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” she told host Andy Cohen that the speculation was five-year-old noise and insisted Justin was “not going anywhere” — with Justin seated in the studio audience as she said it, according to The Mirror US. By May 2026, the couple had separated, and the nesting arrangement described above took hold not long after.
A Season of Splits on Bravo
The filing lands amid a broader wave of marital breakups among the RHOSLC cast. Castmate Angie Katsanevas and Shawn Trujillo have also separated after 27 years together. The show's Season 7 premiere, which aired September 16, drew 2.6 million multiplatform viewers in its first week — a 23% jump over Season 6 — as the series documented the strain on Whitney and Justin's marriage.
