A Sumner County grand jury has indicted three men accused of participating in the alleged rape of a teenager, with bonds ranging as high as $1.5 million as the case heads toward a Circuit Court arraignment next week. Edwin Daniel Garcia, 21, Christian Vazquez, 24, and Alexis Murillo, 24, were all arrested on Oct. 20 and booked into the Sumner County Jail, where they remained held pending that arraignment.
According to Main Street Media of Tennessee, the indictments allege the three men coerced a victim between the ages of 13 and 17 into participating in sexual activities. The same report states the indictments further allege the men caused the victim to participate in producing acts or material involving the minor in sexual activity.
Breakdown of the Charges Against Each Defendant
Per the outlet's reporting, Garcia was indicted on eight counts of aggravated rape, eight counts of rape, 10 counts of statutory rape and three counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. Vazquez was indicted on six counts of aggravated rape, six counts of rape and three counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor; the same report also lists eight counts of aggravated statutory rape against him, a separate charge category.
Murillo, meanwhile, was indicted on eight counts of aggravated rape, eight counts of rape and three counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, with the report also citing six counts of aggravated statutory rape in his case, a separate charge category.
Bonds Set, Arraignment Scheduled for Next Week
Bond was set at $1.5 million for Garcia, $750,000 for Vazquez and $1 million for Murillo, the news organization reported. All three were being held at the Sumner County Jail following their Oct. 20 arrests, and their arraignment in Circuit Court is scheduled for Nov. 2.
The Tennessee General Assembly has published legislative text concerning provisions in Title 39 related to exploitation of minors. That legislative text also specifies that an unsuccessful solicitation or conduct that was not completed is not a defense under the law.
Part of a Pattern of Sumner County Child-Sex Indictments
This case follows other Sumner County grand jury indictments involving alleged child sexual abuse. In July 2025, Walter Lucian Lewis was indicted and taken into custody in connection with an investigation into alleged sexual assaults of multiple children, according to WKRN. Lewis faced five counts of aggravated rape of a child, five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of especially aggravated sexual exploitation, with his bond set at $500,000.
That same month, Joe Lamb was indicted for child rape and sexual battery in Sumner County and taken into custody following an investigation and grand jury indictment, WKRN reported separately. Lamb was booked into the Sumner County jail on a $250,000 bond. The case is scheduled for a Circuit Court arraignment next week.
