Chicago is enjoying a sunny Saturday, with the National Weather Service forecasting a high near 67 degrees and southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph.
Sunny Saturday Gives Way To A Mild Sunday
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low near 50 degrees. Southeast winds around 5 mph should turn south-southwest after midnight, with gusts up to 10 mph.
A few sprinkles or showers cannot be ruled out late tonight, though the National Weather Service says the chance is too low to include in its aviation forecast. Sunday is forecast to be sunny, with a high near 71 degrees and winds that could gust to 15 mph.
Cooler Monday, Then Another Warmup
Monday brings sunny skies and a high near 63 degrees. Monday night could be the coolest stretch of the week, with a low around 47 degrees, before temperatures rebound to about 66 Tuesday and 72 Wednesday.
The warmer stretch follows rain that moved into the region earlier in the week and cleared by Friday. A few sprinkles or showers cannot be ruled out late Saturday night.
Mostly Dry Through Friday
The mostly quiet pattern continues Thursday and Friday, with highs near 71 and 70 degrees, respectively. The current NWS alert is a Flood Warning for the Des Plaines River near Russell in Lake County; it does not cover central Chicago.
A river warning remains in effect in the broader Chicago forecast area, but it is not a citywide rain alert. The National Weather Service says the Flood Warning covers the Des Plaines River near Russell in Lake County, where the river stood at 7.2 feet Saturday morning, above its 7-foot flood stage; the river is expected to crest Sunday. The warning identifies the affected stretch as running from the Wisconsin state line downstream to U.S. 41 in Gurnee.
