A new café is pouring coffee and steaming matcha on Westfield's Alba Lane, where Velvet Roast is serving customers. The family-owned shop is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering signature coffee, breakfast favorites and desserts.
Velvet Roast sits at 17576 Alba Ln. in Westfield, Indiana, according to mapquest.com. It was opened by Merna and Marven Nashed after the couple moved to Westfield, Indiana, as reported by WISH-TV. Merna Nashed said the café was inspired by the coffee culture she and her family experienced in Seattle, and the couple wanted to create a locally owned café with a drive-thru.
Timing the launch was not simple. Nashed said opening the café while adjusting to a move and welcoming the couple's third child was both challenging and wonderful, per the station's report. That personal backdrop shapes the café's mission: Velvet Roast aims to make customers feel welcome and recognized, with an approach that begins with kindness.
A Neighborhood Feel, Built From Scratch
The goal, according to the same account, is to restore the neighborhood feel of a coffee shop where baristas know their regular customers by name. Nashed put it simply, saying every customer should feel special and known. That ethos is central to the café's effort to create a welcoming neighborhood feel.
Velvet Roast offers drinks hot or iced.
Seasonal Drinks And Sweet Treats
Velvet Roast's featured lineup includes a maple-pecan drink, per WISH-TV. The maple-pecan drink arrives finished with candied pecans or a maple cookie, while a brown-butter snickerdoodle latte comes topped with cookie pieces, WISH-TV reports.
Velvet Roast also serves seasonal drinks tied to the calendar, with holiday flavors including a Christmas sugar cookie drink and a peppermint mocha already part of the plan. On the food side, MapQuest lists bagels and cheesecake among the café's offerings.
Velvet Roast is serving the Westfield community from its Alba Lane storefront.
