The Indiana Design Center, which anchors Carmel’s Arts and Design District, has about 82,000 square feet of showroom and design space on two levels and a 109-space public parking garage, according to the City of Carmel.

Another recent addition to Carmel’s flooring retail market is McCool’s Flooring’s showroom of more than 10,000 square feet at 146th Street and Carey Road. The company opened it after 25 years in a West Carmel Drive showroom and was founded in 1967 by Virgil and Carole McCool, The Reporter reported.

America’s Floor Source opened AFS The Studio in October in Suite 118 at 200 S. Range Line Road. The 3,220-square-foot showroom carries hardwood, luxury vinyl, tile, stone, carpet and rugs, as well as countertops and other design products; the Design Center’s directory listing also includes tile and stone. The company scheduled a public grand-opening celebration for 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 12, Current reported.

Current reported that four design consultants work at the Carmel location, with an Indianapolis team handling installation, project management and warehouse operations. The company operates company-owned showrooms, according to Current. Its Indianapolis-area warehouse covers 160,000 square feet, AFS Group reported.

The Nov. 12 celebration is scheduled alongside the Design Center’s Winter Gallery event. Current reported that the program would feature Christmas trees decorated by local designers, including one presented by America’s Floor Source. AFS The Studio’s listed hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, according to AFS Group. The Design Center’s role in the district

The City of Carmel describes the Indiana Design Center as an anchor of the Arts and Design District. Construction began in May 2007 and was completed in summer 2010, with the Carmel Redevelopment Commission partnering with Pedcor Companies on the project, according to the City of Carmel. The city’s account establishes the center’s development timeline and partnership; it identifies the center’s role in the district as an anchor.
