A verbal dispute in southwest Miami-Dade turned violent Monday night when one of several unknown suspects pulled out a gun and shot a young boy, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office. Deputies found the boy suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his lower extremities, and he was rushed to a hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Deputies responded to the scene at Southwest 196th Street and 110th Court just after 9 p.m. Monday, according to CBS News. Once on scene, they located the juvenile with the gunshot wound to his lower body. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue then transported him to a local hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.
Preliminary information from MDSO indicates the victim was involved in a verbal dispute with multiple unknown suspects before the confrontation turned deadly serious. One of those suspects obtained a firearm and shot the victim, per the sheriff's office account relayed to the station. What sparked the argument has not been disclosed.
Detectives Take Over As Details Remain Scarce
MDSO's General Investigations detectives have since taken over the case from the responding deputies. As of the latest update, authorities had not released the juvenile's age or said whether any of the suspects involved in the dispute had been detained, the outlet's report notes.
The shooting adds to a string of recent incidents involving young people and gunfire in the southwest Miami-Dade area, though the available reporting does not tie this case to those others. In September, MDSO identified 18-year-old Misael Aguilar Santurio as a suspect in a separate southwest Miami-Dade shooting, and he was charged with attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm, according to CBS News.
Other Recent Cases In The Area
In another unrelated case, WSVN reported the arrests of 16-year-old Adrian Negron Vega and 17-year-old Camilo Buritica in connection with a southwest Miami-Dade shooting that left 15-year-old Eydam Ramos injured. That victim was also reported in stable condition following the shooting, per the station's report.
No arrests have been announced in Monday night's shooting, and MDSO has not said whether investigators have identified any suspects. Hoodline will update this story as more information becomes available.
