An Ebony Alert issued for a missing teen last seen in Castro Valley has been deactivated after authorities said the teenager has been located. The California Highway Patrol announced the development early Wednesday morning, as the search came to a close.
The alert, which covered Alameda County, described a missing teen last seen near Center Street and Edwards Lane in Castro Valley, according to a post from CHP - Alerts
The post came from the @CHPAlerts account.
In a separate report, KTVU said Ganiah Grubbs was believed to be on foot.
Alert Activated on Behalf of Alameda County Sheriff's Office
The Ebony Alert had been activated by CHP on behalf of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, and the agency's public urging was straightforward: anyone who spotted the teen was asked to call 911 immediately.
CHP's announcement that the alert had been deactivated and that the subject had been located was brief, offering no further details about the circumstances of how or where she was found. The agency's post stated simply, “This Ebony Alert has been deactivated. The subject has been located.”
Earlier Castro Valley Alert Raises Unanswered Questions
A separate report from KTVU FOX 2, dated October 2025, described an Ebony Alert for a 15-year-old girl and said a person named Ganiah Grubbs had been spotted around 8:30 p.m. near Edwards Lane and Center Street in Castro Valley — the same intersection named in this week's alert. It is not established whether that earlier report concerned the same person or the same event as the alert deactivated this week, and the two reports should not be treated as describing a single continuous case.
In Castro Valley, CHP issued an Ebony Alert for the missing teen. The subject has been located, and the alert has been deactivated.
