San Francisco is starting Monday in the low 50s under mostly cloudy skies, with a mild afternoon ahead and a high near 66 degrees. The brief dry break will not last long, however: rain returns Tuesday, while hazardous beach conditions remain in place along the Pacific Coast.
Monday should stay mostly dry, with light southeast winds and temperatures easing from the mid-60s during the afternoon. Rain chances develop over the North Bay late Monday night, with showers possible around SFO as early as 15Z Tuesday.
Tuesday Rain Could Complicate The Morning Commute
Tuesday is expected to be mostly cloudy with rain, a high near 65 degrees and south winds between 6 and 9 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%, with roughly 0.01 to 0.25 inches of rain possible across the Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service. A few showers could linger into Tuesday night before drier weather returns Wednesday.
Beach Hazards Continue Through Tuesday Evening
The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement through Tuesday evening for Pacific Coast beach zones, citing an increased risk of sneaker waves and strong rip currents. Beachgoers should stay out of the water, avoid jetties, piers and rocks, and never turn their back on the ocean.
Sunny And Warmer Weather Returns Later This Week
Wednesday should turn mostly sunny, followed by mostly sunny, dry conditions Thursday. Temperatures may return to the 70s by Friday. The National Weather Service forecasts highs in the 70s to lower 80s next weekend, and interior areas could reach the low 80s Saturday.
The updated timing and stronger rain odds mark a notable refinement from Sunday's Hoodline forecast. For now, Monday is the day to enjoy the calm; Tuesday is the one to keep an umbrella nearby and give the shoreline a wide berth.
