Lush closed its West Town location at 1412 W. Chicago Ave. in March, leaving its Roscoe Village shop as its remaining location, according to social media cited by Block Club Chicago. The company had described Lush as a wine shop paired with a bistro. In a separate report, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Roscoe Village sales rose 1% over 2024, while sales at the West Town location fell 9%; it also reported that Lush received a 2025 permit to expand the Roscoe Village storefront.
A new business in the space
Craig Perman has opened Perman Selections and Wine Bar at the former Lush address. The business combines a wine retailer with a bar serving wine, cocktails and beer, Block Club Chicago reported. Perman has operated a Near North Side wine shop since 2017 and co-owns Le Midi, a Wicker Park wine bar he opened with Seth Wilson in 2022, according to the outlet.
Perman’s business history also includes a West Loop shop, which his company says opened in September 2007 and closed in March 2018. The dates and history appear on the Perman Wine Selections website.
Retail and bar offerings
Block Club Chicago reported that the new shop carries about 175 wines and offers tastings. Its bar serves roughly 20 wines by the glass, with half pours available, as well as five cocktails at a time. The business does not serve full meals; snacks include nuts, olives, cheese and cured meats.
The outlet reported that Perman Selections and Wine Bar is open noon to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, noon to midnight Friday, 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, and noon to 9 p.m. Monday. It is closed Tuesday.
