Wayne Township firefighters responded to a reported fire at a west-side towing company, with Indianapolis Fire Department crews called in to assist, according to WTHR. No injuries were reported.
Smoke Visible From Downtown
WTHR reported a three-alarm fire at a west-side towing company, with smoke visible from downtown Indianapolis and seen for miles.
Hanna's Wrecker Service has been the site of fire activity before. The Indianapolis Star reported that a fire broke out at the same business, listed at 3501 W. Kelly St., at about 6 a.m. on September 11, 2021. That earlier blaze involved a large pile of junk cars outside the business that caught fire, according to the Wayne Township Fire Department at the time.
Earlier Fire Drew Five Agencies
The 2021 fire prompted a response from five agencies, as detailed by The Indianapolis Star: Wayne Township, Decatur Township, Indianapolis, Indianapolis International Airport and Speedway. No people were at the business at the time, and no injuries were reported then either, per a fire department spokesperson cited in that report. A cause for that fire had not been determined as of that Saturday afternoon, the outlet noted.
