Cincinnati starts Friday under partly sunny skies near 55 degrees, but the bigger story arrives after dark: a frost advisory takes effect as temperatures slip toward the mid-30s. The weekend stays dry and mostly sunny, with another chilly night Saturday before a sharp warm-up early next week.
The National Weather Service says the advisory runs from midnight Friday night through 9 a.m. Saturday across parts of southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and southeast Indiana. Frost could damage sensitive outdoor plants, so gardeners should cover or move tender vegetation before bedtime.
Friday afternoon should top out near 58 under partly sunny skies, with northwest winds of 10–15 knots and gusts up to 20 knots. Friday night will be partly cloudy and colder, with a low around 36 in Cincinnati; colder pockets in the broader advisory area could dip into the 32-to-35-degree range.
Saturday Morning Frost, Then A Sunny Weekend
Saturday begins with patchy frost possible between 8 and 9 a.m., followed by a high near 56. Saturday night is forecast to bring lower-30s temperatures; Sunday afternoon turns milder near 59.
The new advisory is a notable update from Thursday's Hoodline forecast, which flagged the weekend chill but did not have an active frost alert for the area. With dry weather and light winds, the main planning issue is protecting plants and allowing a little extra time for chilly early-morning errands, not rain or slick roads.
Warm-Up Arrives Monday
Lows are forecast in the mid-to-upper 30s during the first half of next week, while Monday's sunshine should push the high to about 63. Tuesday looks like the warmest day of the stretch at 66, followed by a sunny Veterans Day near 62.
A trough is expected to cross the region Thursday and Friday. Thursday is forecast to have a high in the 50s.
