A masked gunman dressed head-to-toe in black robbed a UDF convenience store and gas station on Madison Road in Madisonville early Monday, fleeing on foot before police dogs could track him down. No one was hurt in the holdup, which happened just before 12:30 a.m., and the suspect remained at large as of Monday morning.
Police Search After Robbery, Suspect Already Gone
Cincinnati police received a call about the Madison Road UDF just before 12:30 a.m. Monday, according to FOX19, after the store was robbed at gunpoint. The gunman was last seen running away from the UDF, and police said he wore a mask and all-black clothing. Officers sent a K-9 to the area to help search for him, but the dog's search came up empty and the suspect escaped.
A separate report from WLWT confirms Cincinnati police were investigating the armed robbery at the Madisonville gas station overnight, noting that officers got the call just before 12:30 a.m. and that no injuries were reported. The station's report also notes that a K-9 unit assisted with the search for a suspect, but that no one had been arrested by the time of its report.
Not the First Time a UDF Has Been Targeted at Gunpoint
Madisonville's convenience stores have not been strangers to this kind of trouble. Earlier this year, a different Cincinnati UDF became the target of an armed robbery when a suspect entered the Montgomery Road location, brandished a firearm and demanded money from the registers, a case Hoodline previously reported was being investigated by Cincinnati Police District 2 as an aggravated robbery. That same report noted the Montgomery Road location had also been hit during a robbery spree back in 2017.
Armed robberies at UDF stores have also surfaced outside Cincinnati proper. In Cheviot, police arrested 26-year-old Michael Peppers after he allegedly robbed a UDF on Glenmore Avenue near Montana at gunpoint, according to Local 12, which reported that investigators credited the store's security cameras in part for his arrest.
What the Numbers Show for Madisonville
City crime data offers a mixed picture of robbery trends in the neighborhood. A Madisonville neighborhood report from the Cincinnati Police Department lists four robbery incidents so far in 2026, compared with six in 2025 and a three-year average of 5.67, though that figure is drawn from a low-confidence snippet and its exact reporting window relative to this latest robbery is unclear. The department's broader Reported Crime data notes that such incidents are tracked through its Records Management System, with Part 1 violent crime covering charge codes tied to homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
No arrest has been announced in connection with the Madisonville UDF robbery, and investigators have not released further details about the suspect or what, if anything, was taken from the store.
