A new shopping center concept called Weber Town Center was presented at Romeoville's most recent Village Board meeting, proposing two separate multi-tenant buildings on the west side of Normantown Road next to Rasmussen University. The plan calls for each 10,500-square-foot building to include a wraparound drive-thru and ample parking, with construction planned to happen one building at a time, according to The Times Weekly.

The project is the latest step in the ongoing redevelopment of the Weber-Normantown intersection, an area that has already drawn investment from Rebel convenience store, Hatch Chicken, Dunkin, and QuikTrip. Separately, Romeoville has identified a three-unit center at Weber and Normantown that would include Crisp & Green and Hawaiian Bros restaurants, according to a village announcement.

A Separate Proposal Takes Shape Nearby

A related proposal reviewed by Romeoville's Planning & Zoning Committee describes an 8,603-square-foot building with a drive-thru that would house Hawaiian Bros Island Grill and Crisp & Green, with a third tenant space still open, per Patch. That building would replace the former 7-Eleven structure. Patch’s September 24, 2025, report said construction could start in spring 2026.

Mayor John Noak pointed to the intersection's momentum when discussing the interest from new businesses. “Between QuikTrip, Hatch Chicken, Hawaiian Bros, and CRISP & GREEN, with interest from new businesses such as these, we continue to see significant activity in this area,” Noak said, per the same report. The corridor's draw comes as Romeoville sits at a historically low retail vacancy rate of under 1.5%, the village has said.

Years of Buildup at Weber and Normantown

The intersection has been a focal point of Romeoville's growth for years. Back in 2021, concept plans for the southwest corner of Weber Road and Normantown Road included a Hilton Tru hotel, two new restaurants, and a gas station rounded out by a proposed QuikTrip gas station and convenience store, the village noted at the time. By 2022, the Village Board had approved permits for a newly built QuikTrip fueling station on that same southwest corner.

Other recent additions near Romeoville show a similar pattern of mixed restaurant and retail buildout. A separate project approved by the Village Board included a new 12,000-square-foot grocery store with an attached 2,500-square-foot restaurant, Patch reported. Mayor Noak has said the village expects to make even more announcements across several sectors in the coming months.

For now, the exact scope of the Weber Town Center project, including its final site plan and the status of any unfilled tenant space, remains unconfirmed. The Weber-Normantown corridor has seen several development projects, with national chains and local businesses alike staking a claim along Normantown Road.
