A three-story sports, dining and entertainment venue called Match Haus is headed to 100 N. Kirk Road in St. Charles, bringing six pickleball courts, three padel courts and duckpin bowling under one roof alongside a social kitchen and cafe. The project is near the site of Charlestowne Mall, which shuttered in 2017, and marks one of the splashier additions yet to the Fox Haven Square development taking shape at the corner of E. Main Street and Kirk Road.
The concept comes from Parker Hospitality, a Chicago-based group that is introducing Match Haus as what it describes as a space for sports, food, cocktails and a place to unwind, according to WhatNow. The outlet reports the venue will span about 21,000 square feet, making it one of Parker Hospitality's larger facilities, with separate areas carved out for the pickleball courts, padel courts and duckpin bowling lanes. A social kitchen and cafe will also serve drinks on site, and the company has described the venue as built for either a quick reset or a longer pause to feel good and keep going.
Not every account agrees on the numbers. The Fox Haven Square project page from G-Ninety describes Brad Parker's flagship entertainment concept as a 20,000-square-foot venue featuring a rooftop island bar, duckpin bowling, pickleball courts and bocce — a figure that differs slightly from WhatNow's reported 21,000 square feet. The venue's name has also appeared two ways in coverage: WhatNow calls it Match Haus, while Patch identifies it as Match Haus, also known as Harbor House, in its report on Fox Haven Square's construction progress.
Opening Timeline Still in Flux
When Match Haus might actually open is similarly unsettled. Brad Parker told WhatNow Chicago the team is eyeing an opening date in the first quarter of 2027. That contrasts with an earlier report from Tri-Cities Central, published in April, which described the 20,000-square-foot restaurant and cafe concept as projected for closer to the end of 2026. The dossier of available reporting does not clarify whether the timeline shifted between those two reports or whether they simply reflect different snapshots of a moving project.
On the ground, progress appears real even if the finish line isn't fixed. Patch reported in September that a building permit had been issued for the project and that construction was underway, though the report noted that specific business opening dates and a full development completion date had not been provided by the city.
The City of St. Charles, for its part, confirms only the broad strokes: it has approved development plans for Fox Haven Square as a retail and restaurant development that also includes a pickleball facility, according to the City of St. Charles.
Filets, Pastas and a Wine List to Match the Courts
Match Haus hasn't released a finished menu, but teaser videos on the company's website point to entrees like filets and pastas, along with desserts, wines and coffees. Parker Hospitality has said more details will come via its website and Instagram in the near future, per the same WhatNow report.
The site itself is already surrounded by newer dining options. Rosebud Steakhouse, Simple EJ's Kitchen & Tap and fire + wine have all recently opened near the Match Haus location, which sits across from the Foxfield Commons shopping center — giving the stretch near the old Charlestowne Mall site a markedly different identity than it had as a struggling enclosed mall.
Part of a Bigger Pickleball Wave
Match Haus arrives as pickleball's popularity keeps climbing nationally. The Sports & Fitness Industry Association reported that 24.3 million Americans played pickleball in 2025, up from 4.2 million in 2020, with teens and young adults ages 13 to 24 posting the highest participation rates of any age segment, according to SFIA. The same report found women now make up 42.9% of all pickleball players, up from 38.6% in 2020, while core players — those playing at least eight times a year — grew from 1.4 million in 2020 to 7.5 million in 2025.
Illinois has already seen a handful of similarly ambitious projects try to capture that growth. In Highland Park, Dinx Social Club turned 23,000 square feet of former grocery store space into a six-court indoor pickleball facility with golf simulators, a self-pour bar and food offerings, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. That same report described Club Pickle & Padel, also under construction in Highland Park, as planning 10 pickleball courts and four padel courts beneath a 50,000-square-foot dome. Match Haus's six pickleball courts and three padel courts would land on the smaller end of that spectrum, but its mix of dining, cocktails and bowling suggests Parker Hospitality is betting on the full social-club experience rather than courts alone.
