The 600 block of Commercial Street is now truly renamed Emperor Norton Place, after City Hall approved the renaming in April, and SFMTA did quick work in getting the sign up last week.

In response to overwhelming demand, organizers of the upcoming May memorial for drag icon Heklina have announced that a block of Castro Street will be shut down.

The 600 block of Commercial Street in Chinatown will be renamed “Emperor Norton Place,” in honor of San Francisco’s greatest Victorian-era icon and eccentric, Emperor Joshua Norton.

A memorial has been planned for May 23 featuring "performances, stories, and more from Heklina's friends."
