Sean Sullivan is organizing a San Francisco SAFE neighborhood watch group for the area bordered by Oak, Page, Masonic, and Ashbury Streets.

SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone) is a 501(C)(3) that "provides education and support regarding public safety and assists community members in identifying and resolving issues of crime and violence. SAFE partners with the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) to provide crime prevention education and organizing support for communities and Neighborhood Watch groups." Sean Sullivan will be holding an informational meeting at his home at 1685 Oak Street #202 on Tuesday, April 30th from 6:30-8pm. In addition to bringing your thoughts and concerns, the meeting will have information about how to prevent and report crime effectively. Plus: refreshments! We were curious about how effective neighborhood watches are. They've been under scrutiny since Trayvon Martin, and a 2009 study showed that it's mostly the Neighborhood Watch signs that deter crime. What do you think? Take it to the comments.
