Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 7th—the date of the next Lower Haight Art Walk.
This will be a daytime affair, from 2pm to 7pm. As with all art walks, expect art openings, vendors, music and more up and down Haight Street.
Holding the art walk on a Saturday afternoon (versus Friday evening) has become a tradition for the summer event. Last year, nice weather and a Giants game seemed to occupy people's attention in the early hours, but the crowds showed up by sunset. The 2011 edition (pictured above) involved closing off a block of Steiner Street to traffic, making room for live music and activities for the kids like chalk drawing and face painting. In general, the daytime versions tend to have a more mellow, family-friendly vibe—at least while the sun's still up.
No additional details about June's edition have been announced yet, but we'll have more information in the days leading up to the event.
And in case you're curious, the dates for future art walks have been set for the rest of the year:
- Saturday September 6th, 5pm - 9pm
- Saturday October 11th, 11am - 6pm (Urban Air Market)
- Saturday December 6th, 5pm - 9pm
