Tour Bus Crash On Embarcadero Leaves Several WoundedPhoto: Cara Liu/KTVU

For the second time in less than two months a double-decker tour bus crash in San Francisco has sent people to the hospital. Shortly before 6pm this evening a Big Bus San Francisco vehicle and a black Ford SUV collided on Embarcadero near Broadway.

ABC7 News reports that nine people were injured in the collision, including two children. Eight of the victims were transported to the hospital in non-life threatening condition, while a ninth refused treatment.

The crash was described by CBS News as a fender-bender, which occurred after the driver of the SUV made an illegal lane change in front of the tour bus.

This is the second tour bus crash to take place this winter in San Francisco. In November seven people were critically injured when a City Sightseeing bus lost control, careening down Post Street and taking out scaffolding along the new Apple Store. The tour bus driver later cited a mechanical failure as the reason for the crash. Earlier this month, City Sightseeing flunked a surprise inspection, putting the future of their business at risk.

And last but not least in the tour bus sagas, earlier this year a Big Bus burst into flames in Upper Haight. No one was injured, but the tour bus was totaled.
