After closing its door in the French Quarter, Cuban haunt El Libre has relocated across town. The new location is situated at 3151 Calhoun St., uptown, in Fontainebleau.

"The new El Libre, which has a full kitchen, will have a larger Cuban menu than the original — with items like Cubano sandwiches, black beans, grilled corn, fried sweet plantains and ropa vieja, or Cuban-style roast beef," according to The Times-Picayune.

The new and improved El Libre has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of 3 reviews on Yelp.

"This place is amazing," Yelper Konrad K. said. "Much needed in the area. Nice to know there is a local bar making delicious craft drinks, but still keeping a very casual atmosphere while doing so."

Yelper Krista P. added, “Finally El Libre has opened uptown! Even better than the French Quarter location. Fresh ingredients, and friendly service. Can't wait to come back!”

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. El Libre is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. (It's closed on Tuesday.)
