Two transit riders were injured in separate robberies last night, according to police.

In the first incident, which took place on a bus near Geary Boulevard and Scott Street around 8:22 p.m., a male suspect approximately 18 to 23 years old took a cellphone from a 31-year-old woman and ran out the door.

A second suspect in his early twenties shoved the woman to the ground before both assailants fled on foot. The victim suffered non-life-threatening wounds, and neither suspect was arrested.

In the second robbery, which occurred around 11:47 p.m. on the 800 block of Market Street, a 38-year-old man was walking into Powell Street BART when a man in his forties grabbed his backpack and a struggle ensued.

The victim dropped his backpack after the suspect allegedly threatened him and fled into the station. The victim, who lost a phone, laptop and backpack, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and no arrest was made.

Anyone who has information about either of these incidents is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
