Here's a roundup of notable crimes reported to the SFPD's Tenderloin Station in the weeks since our last roundup. All details come from official police reports, unless otherwise noted. 

Woman carjacked after assault

Around 4:40 p.m. on May 31, a male suspect of unknown age pushed a 48-year-old woman near the intersection of Ellis and Hyde streets. He then took the keys to her sedan and fled westbound on Ellis in the car. He remains at large.

Man arrested after stabbing teen

On May 31 at 2:33 p.m., a 51-year-old man got into a physical fight with a 19-year-old man on the unit block of Turk Street (near Market). The older man then pulled a knife and stabbed the victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was arrested by SFPD officers already patrolling the area.

10 suspects rob business

Around 10:40 p.m. on May 30, a group of 10 suspects forced their way into a business on the 100 block of Eddy Street (near Powell) and stole money from the cash register. The crime was reported by a 27-year-old male employee, who was on-site, but remained uninjured. No arrests have been reported.

Man attacked, robbed in 3-on-1 attack

A 60-year-old man was attacked by three suspects at Franklin and Turk streets at 11:30 p.m. on May 30.

One man, said to be in his twenties, pushed the victim into a fence, causing him to drop his backpack. Two other suspects, a man and woman both said to be in their twenties, then grabbed the backpack, containing money and a laptop. All three suspects fled on foot and have not been identified.

Elderly man hit on head with hammer

Around 11 a.m. on May 30, a 74-year-old man was hit in the head with a hammer by an unknown male suspect on the 300 block of Hyde Street (near Eddy). The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while the suspect remains at large.

Woman robbed in padlock attack

Around 6:15 p.m. on May 29, a 38-year-old woman was hit with a padlock by a woman said to be in her thirties. The suspect then stole the victim’s phone, Bluetooth speaker, and Wi-Fi hotspot before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Man attacked, robbed with own power tool

Around 2:53 p.m. on May 28, a man said to be 25 years old struck a 60-year-old man with his own power tool near the intersection of Larkin and O’Farrell streets. The assailant fled with the tool and remains at large; the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Man arrested after hatchet assault

Around 11:22 p.m. on May 27, a 24-year-old man assaulted a 57-year-old man with a hatchet near the intersection of Turk and Hyde streets. The suspect was arrested, and the victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Man arrested after knife attack

A 64-year-old man was arrested after cutting a 35-year-old man with a knife around 2:46 p.m. on May 27, on the 200 block of Jones Street (near Turk). The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Man assaulted, robbed in 2-on-1 attack

Around 12:45 a.m. on May 27, two men of unknown age assaulted a 37-year-old man near the intersection of Turk and Hyde streets, then stole his phone and cash. The two suspects fled the scene in a black sedan. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Man arrested after unprovoked stabbing

Around 12:36 p.m. on May 26, a 35-year-old man approached and stabbed a 55-year-old man on the 300 block of Eddy Street (near Jones). The suspect was arrested by police, while the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Man injured in metal pipe attack

A man of unknown age approached a 56-year-old man with a metal pipe around 7:26 p.m. on May 23 on the 300 block of Ellis Street (near Taylor). The suspect hit the victim with the pipe, causing non-life-threatening injuries, before fleeing. No arrest has been made.

Man arrested after robbery and stabbing

Around 1 p.m. on May 23, a man said to be 45 years old stole cash from a 31-year-old man near the intersection of McAllister and Hyde streets. Amid the struggle, the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene, but SFPD later located and arrested him.

Security guard attacked with wooden stick

A 38-year-old man got into a physical altercation with a 22-year-old male security guard at a retail store on the 1300 block of Market Street (near Ninth) around 6:53 p.m. on May 22.

The suspect hit the guard with a wooden stick, causing non-life-threatening injuries. He was later arrested.

Man stabbed after argument over theft

Around 12:58 p.m. on May 18, a 50-year-old man and a man said to be 30 years old got into a verbal altercation near Turk and Larkin streets, with the older man accusing the younger one of stealing from him. The younger man then stabbed the older man, causing non-life-threatening injuries.

Man loses phone to knife-wielding robber

Around 5:50 a.m. on May 15, a 47-year-old man was approached by two male suspects, one said to be in his twenties and the other said to be in his forties, near the intersection of Willow and Larkin streets.

The suspects attempted to steal the victim’s property, causing a brief struggle. After the older suspect brandished a knife, the victim’s phone fell out of his pocket. The knife-wielding suspect grabbed the phone and fled the scene. Both suspects remain at large.

Man robbed, kidnapped at gunpoint

A 22-year-old man was kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint around 8:15 p.m. on May 13, near the intersection of McAllister and Market streets.

After being confronted with the weapon, the victim was forced into a sedan by the suspects: a man said to be 30 years old, and two women of unknown age. The group drove away from the scene, later dropping the uninjured victim at a different location.

Woman stabbed after argument in UN Plaza

Two women, 54 and 58, got into a verbal altercation at UN Plaza around 3 p.m. on May 10. The older woman then stabbed the younger one with a knife and fled the scene. SFPD later identified the suspect and arrested her.

Man injured in hammer attack

Around 4:50 p.m. on May 8, a 44-year-old man got into an argument with a man said to be 59 years old on the 400 block of O’Farrell Street (near Taylor). The older man then hit the younger one in the face with a hammer, stealing his money. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries; the suspect remains at large.


We've asked why incidents reported on the Tenderloin Station's Twitter feed, which typically focus on related arrests, are rarely included in the formal media crime reports, but have received no response as of press time.
