On September 3, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department was notified of a suspicious death that took place in the 1200 block of Harbison Canyon Road in unincorporated El Cajon.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of 59-year-old Samuel Holthaus, who had suffered apparent trauma to his upper body, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Holthaus' family was subsequently notified of the tragic news. An investigation was launched, and the manner of death was confirmed to be homicide by the Medical Examiner's Office.
Investigators from the Sheriff's Homicide Unit were able to identify a suspect, Kenneth McNally (DOB 06/24/1983), who was then arrested by the Sheriff's Fugitive Task Force. As the investigation continues, the motivation and circumstances of the murder remain unclear.
