On October 2, the recently damaged Mission Peak Pole in the East Bay Regional Parks District (EBRPD) was restored by park staff. As reported on the Mission Peak Regional Preserve Facebook page, the pole, locally named the "Mission Peeker," had been vandalized and rendered a popular photo spot of the community inaccessible.
The ignition of the vandalism case occurred sometime before September 30, causing park officials and the community to express a mutual disappointment. EBRPD voiced their concerns regarding the negative impact such vandalism imparts on the experience of their park visitors, as previously reported by Hoodline.
EBRPD continues its search for the vandals, with an active request for any information from the public to be directed to their Public Safety Department at 510-690-6521. Despite the swift repair of the pole bringing a gleam of positivity to the community, the persons responsible remain unidentified.
