As reported by ABC 15, the duo will be making a play for the "Lombarky Trophy," joining 131 furry athletes from 73 shelters nationwide. The competition, promising a blend of adorable antics and spirited sportsmanship, will be broadcast on Animal Planet, February 11 at noon.
Cherry and Pecan, six-month-old Border Terrier mixes born in the care of a Foster Hero home, have already scored their furever touchdowns, having been adopted into loving families yet they are not the only success; in a previously unseen show of interspecies camaraderie, a Chihuahua/French Bulldog mix named Roxy and her buddy, an AHS alumni kitten Oscar, a tale slated for the Puppy Bowl's special Pup Close and Personal segment according to AHS's announcement.
Stepping onto the field for the teams "Team Ruff" and "Team Fluff," the event goes beyond just furry faces and playful scuffles, as the Arizona Humane Society reminds the public that there are many other pets in need of adoption; those interested in adding a new member to their own team can check out available animals on their website. The society stands proud for the second consecutive year and third time overall of having its alumni take part in what has been deemed the cutest game on television.
