The New Orleans Police Department is currently investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that took place on the I-10 West at the Downman Road onramp. The accident, which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist, occurred just before 10 p.m. on Sunday evening.
According to WDSU, the police were called to the scene, wherein they found one motorcycle had been involved in the accident. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. No further details regarding the cause of the accident or the identity of the victim were immediately available.
In a brief statement, a public information officer, James Roberson, sent an email describing the incident. "The NOPD is investigating an Auto Fatality that occurred at I-10 W at the Downman Rd Onramp," Roberson stated. "Initial information shows 1 motorcycle was involved," as reported by Audacy.
The investigation by the NOPD is ongoing, and more information is expected to be released following a thorough examination of the circumstances of the crash.
