New Orleans law enforcement agencies are currently on the hunt for a suspect involved in a recent apartment arson in the Iberville area. Late on Saturday night, the New Orleans Fire Department responded to a 911 call at an apartment located at 1570 Conti Street. According to WWLTV, firefighters were dispatched at 11:43 p.m. and arrived quickly to deal with the situation.
Upon arrival, the firefighting team discovered minor fire damage and light smoke throughout the premises. The building's sprinkler system had largely contained the situation prior to their arrival. The incident, which saw rapid response, was controlled within approximately 12 minutes, reported to have been resolved by 11:55 p.m. as per the WGNO coverage. In the aftermath, one individual was treated at University Medical Center for minor smoke inhalation.
The victim informed authorities that an acquaintance, described as a middle-aged man, was responsible for starting the fire following an altercation between the two. The New Orleans Police Department has identified the suspect, who is wanted on an aggravated arson charge, and are urging the public to come forward with any pertinent information that could assist in the apprehension of the suspect.
