Earlier today, the streets of Old Jefferson were impacted by gunfire, resulting in one fatality and one person hospitalized. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation into the double shooting that occurred on the 300 block of Brooklyn Avenue. According to WDSU, deputies were dispatched to the scene around 3:30 a.m. following multiple 911 calls reporting the incident.
The investigation progressed following the discovery of two adult male victims inside a residence, both suffering from gunshot wounds. WWLTV reported that emergency responders pronounced one victim dead at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition. Authorities have withheld the victims' identities pending notification of their families.
At this time, details about the perpetrator and the motive behind the shooting are not available. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto has not released information regarding a possible suspect.
