A tragic incident occurred on a South Salt Lake street when a 52-year-old man was struck and killed by a car. The collision happened near 3116 S. State Street around 8 p.m. Thursday, as reported by KSL TV, based on information provided by Detective Ryan Alvarez of the South Salt Lake Police Department.
Emergency services promptly rushed the man to the hospital, but unfortunately, he could not survive his injuries. The driver of the car, a 43-year-old woman, stayed on the scene to fully cooperate with the responding authorities, contributing to the ongoing investigation as detailed by FOX 13. The nature of this collision has yet to quickly unfold all relevant details to the public and the deceased man's family as the investigation continues to take place.
Following the accident, a section of State Street was closed, affecting the southbound traffic. Alvarez said, "Southbound State Street will be shut down in the area until at least midnight," according to KUTV. This closure was presumably to allow investigators to thoroughly examine the scene of the accident, marking out skid marks, vehicle debris, and any other pertinent evidence.
The authorities have not released the identity of either party involved in the accident at this moment. As the investigation proceeds to fully gather all the circumstances leading up to the accident, the public is asked to possibly provide any information that could aid the police in piecing together the last moments before the fatal impact.
