A fatal incident occurred on SR-14 in Cedar City when a car crash led to the vehicle becoming engulfed in flames, resulting in the death of the driver. According to KUTV, the Cedar City Police Department received reports of a vehicle fire near milepost 1 shortly after noon on Sunday.
The first responders found the vehicle "fully engulfed in flames," and although an officer attempted to extinguish the blaze with a fire extinguisher, the Cedar City Fire Department had to be called in to put out the fire completely. The accident, as confirmed by the authorities, involved a single car, and the single occupant is deceased, with the identity yet to be revealed.
As reported by FOX13, officials indicated that the call came in at 12:03 p.m. on Saturday and emergency personnel responded to State Route 14 at milepost 1 where the vehicle was already ablaze. The ongoing investigation aims to determine the cause of the accident and identify the victim.
As noted by ABC4, the police are appreciative of the quick response and assistance from various bodies including Cedar City Fire Department, Utah Highway Patrol, Iron County Sheriff’s Office, and Gold Cross.
