
A boat exploded at a Fort Lauderdale marina yesterday, resulting in one death and several injuries. The explosion occurred just before 6 p.m. at Lauderdale Marina, located at 1900 SE 15th Street. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to the scene after multiple 911 calls.

The explosion sparked a fire that quickly spread to an adjacent boat, requiring a larger emergency response. Five people were injured and transported to area hospitals, with three reported to have sustained traumatic injuries, according to the USA Today report.
Divers assisted first responders in searching for a sixth person reported missing after the explosion. The individual was later found deceased in the waters near the marina. The cause of the explosion remains undetermined, and local emergency services responded quickly.
Surveillance footage obtained by NBC Miami showed the spread of fire and thick black smoke rising into the sky.
