
A tragic incident unfolded in West Valley City on Friday night when a 53-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV while pushing a shopping cart along the street. According to FOX 13, the man was not within the confines of a crosswalk when he was hit near the intersection of 4100 South and 4730 West at approximately 8 p.m., the darkness possibly concealing him due to his dark attire.
The victim was immediately taken to a local hospital however, despite the swift efforts of medical personnel, he later succumbed to his injuries, the West Valley City Police Department acknowledged via a social media post, as reported by KSL TV; the area, near the Hunter Public Library, became the scene of this unfortunate event. The SUV was traveling east on 4100 South at the time of the collision, it struck the man.
Details surrounding the accident have begun to emerge from various sources, pointing to a somber event wherein a mere crossing of the road turned perilous. "The driver of an SUV that was traveling east on 4100 S hit the man," states the West Valley City Police Department, as obtained by KSL TV. The victim, whose name remains undisclosed to the public, was wearing dark clothing at the time, which might have rendered him less visible on the thoroughfare.
