Miami-Dade is dealing with the aftermath of a fatal shooting last Sunday that left one man dead and another critically injured. The Miami-Dade Police Department's Homicide Bureau is investigating the incident, which took place in Southwest Miami-Dade.

According to a release from the Miami-Dade County website, the situation began when ShotSpotter, the automated gunfire detection system, alerted authorities to possible shots fired around SW 265th Street and SW 138th Court shortly after 9:15 p.m.; however, responding officers initially found neither victims nor evidence of a shooting. It was only after a citizen directed them to SW 112th Avenue and SW 248th Street at approximately 9:50 p.m. that they discovered two adult males in a vehicle with gunshot wounds.

Officers attempted to assist the victims while Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was sent to the scene. One victim was pronounced dead at the location, while the second was taken to Jackson South Medical Center in critical but stable condition, according to emergency responders.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect remains at large. Miami-Dade detectives are asking the public for help. Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477). Informants can remain anonymous.
