In a grim discovery during a late-night traffic stop in Bluffdale, a woman's body with "significant injuries and trauma that would be consistent with homicide" was found in the backseat of a car, as confirmed by Sgt. Greg Shaver with the Herriman Police Department. The finding happened near Redwood Road and Porter Rockwell Boulevard, at a gas station parking lot, according to ABC4.
Officers were initially carrying out a DUI investigation just after midnight when they stumbled upon the deceased female, with the situation escalating into a far more sinister scene. Shortly upon conducting the stop, Herriman Police were acting after receiving a call for help in a DUI case from the Saratoga Springs Police Department when they saw the body, as reported by FOX13. The suspect, identified as Johnson, encountered the police at the 7-Eleven gas station where the discovery was made.
Following the incident, Johnson has been taken into custody. He told police that the victim had been living with him and that they recently had an argument about their relationship. This piece of information comes by way of an interview Johnson had with the police, which was mentioned by KSLTV. Court records highlight Johnson was undergoing a divorce and a previous request for a protective order against him was denied by the court in August.
