Dramatic Car Chase in Fort Lauderdale Ends in Rollover Crash and Four Suspects DetainedSource: Facebook/Florida Highway Patrol

Two separate incidents led to a dramatic car chase and arrests in Fort Lauderdale. A rollover crash ended a pursuit involving the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and the driver of a black Mercedes SUV. WSVN reports that the chase started when FHP troopers attempted to stop the vehicle last night near Sunrise Boulevard and Northwest 18th Avenue, but the driver fled.

During the chase, FHP troopers tried but failed to stop the SUV using a PIT maneuver. The driver then exited the vehicle, allowing the passenger to take over in an attempt to avoid arrest. The pursuit continued until a second PIT maneuver succeeded, causing the SUV to roll over on a grassy median. Both the original driver and the new driver were arrested, and three firearms were found inside the vehicle, according to FHP.

In a related operation, the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) Burglary Apprehension Team and FHP troopers were surveilling a suspect with active warrants near Arizona Avenue and Houston Street when the chase began. NBC Miami reports that FHP's attempt to stop the suspect's vehicle led to a pursuit that ended with the vehicle flipping on Sunrise Boulevard, east of Interstate 95.

The incident resulted in four suspects being detained—one on foot and the others after the vehicle crashed. "Footage from the scene showed the vehicle flipped onto it's side, with multiple officials with BSO and FHP nearby," NBC Miami reported. Some of those arrested were taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The investigations are ongoing.
