On the last day of 2024, a stabbing in downtown Salt Lake City prompted an investigation by local law enforcement, leaving one man injured and the suspect at large. The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) responded to the incident following a call received by SLC911 at 9:46 am on Tuesday, according to SLCPD.
Upon arrival at 178 South Rio Grande Street, officers along with paramedics discovered the victim with a stab wound. The officers immediately engaged in lifesaving efforts. The victim was then rushed to the hospital and is reported to be in serious, but stable condition. The details surrounding the altercation are still being pieced together, however, it is believed by the authorities that an argument escalated into violence around 200 South 500 West, where the stabbing purportedly took place.
After the incident, both the individual who was stabbed and the suspect departed the area. The SLCPD has stated that this seems to be an isolated case and assures residents that there is no ongoing threat to the community. Currently, no arrests have been made and the suspect remains unidentified.
