Passengers aboard a Frontier Airlines flight destined for Miami found themselves making an unscheduled stop at Raleigh-Durham International Airport after the plane encountered a mechanical issue yesterday evening. The flight, which originated from Philadelphia, touched down at RDU at approximately 12:20 a.m. this morning without further incident.
An RDU spokesperson, in a statement obtained by CBS 17, confirmed that the aircraft reported a mechanical concern, prompting the detour. RDU Fire Rescue teams were dispatched to the runway, out of precaution, airport authorities said, though no injuries were subsequently reported.
The airline's response to the situation was succinct. "A Frontier Airlines flight diverted to RDU reporting a mechanical issue, landing safely at about 12:20 a.m.," reiterated a spokesperson in a brief statement available through WRAL.com.
